Who we are

The Faith United Methodist Church is a community church that is committed to sharing the Good News of Christ through local ministry and through mission outreach beyond our area. We are committed to making disciples, developing training and to ongoing support for one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. Our worship, educational and other experiences are focused on growing together in Christ and revealing his love to all people around us.

Faith UMC has a rich history. The first church built at the present location on Salem Ridge was built in 1870 on land deeded from Joshua Selby in 1869. In 1980 Salem Ridge united with the Sugar Grove congregation to become one, thereafter known as Faith United Methodist. The Lord has blessed this congregation through the years with many ambitious Spirit filled individuals who work hard for Him and with excellent Pastors who serve the Lord as our spiritual leaders.

What should I expect when I visit the Faith United Methodist Church?

What should I wear?

We are a family church, so come as you would to a family event. You will not be judged by your appearance. Some of our Sunday crowd arrives in jeans, some like to dress up a little more.

Where do I park my vehicle and which door do I use?

We have plenty of parking on the front and side of the church. The main door is on the front side of the church and there is an overhang for inclement weather as well as for folks who have mobility issues.

How will I know what to do?

We are warm and welcoming, and want everyone to feel accepted.

What will the style of worship be like?

We are a family-oriented church, so our service is very relaxed as well as Spirit filled. We have a special time of "joys and concerns" where we ask for prayer specifically for loved ones. Feel free to ask our church family to pray for you. We have a mix of contemporary and traditional Christian music, sometimes accompanied by guitar and sometimes electronically.

Is there a time of fellowship?

We have a greeting time during our service where we greet one another with no time limits! Feel free to come early and stay after the service as well, to fellowship with others.

Is there a special program for my children?

We have Sunday School during our church service following a children’s' sermon. All children are invited, but there is no requirement to attend. Whatever works for your children is perfectly fine. We also have quite an active VBS program which takes place in the summer, usually in July, and all children are invited to attend for a fun and Spirit filled summer adventure.

What do you do for communion?

Communion is celebrated one Sunday of the month, generally the first Sunday of the month and on other special days throughout the year. All believers are invited to participate; you do not need to be a member of our church.
