Sunday School Classes
During our Sunday School classes, your children will build the foundations of their faith and start growing in their own personal relationship with the Lord. All of the churches in the Driftless Regional Ministry have Sunday School classes throughout the traditional school year (September through May), however each class is different. We encourage you to pick a Sunday School that will be right for your child, where they can get the best start in their life-long journey of loving and worshiping the Lord! For more information on the Sunday School classes at each church, check out the information below!
Liberty Pole UMC offers Sunday School for children from age 4 through high school! We offer two separate classes, one for elementary school age children and one for junior high and high school students. Classes are held during our Sunday worship service during the school year (September through May). We go to class after the children's sermon (approximately 9:30 a.m.) and wrap up at the close of the worship service (10:15 a.m.).
Sunday school will resume this autumn. Everyone is invited to join in the learning and fun! For more information, please reach out to us at libertypole-umc@driftlessministry.org.
The New Hope UMC Wednesday Warriors (Sunday School) is held on Wednesday evening following school (Sept. - May). During Wednesday Warriors, we follow a One-Room School model bringing together children of all ages with lessons, fun games, crafts, and snacks. Class ends approximately around 5 p.m. when children can be picked up by their parents. All children, even visitors, are welcome to come and take part in our Wednesday Warriors program. For more information on this program, please contact us at newhope-umc@driftlessministry.org.
Held following our 8 a.m. Sunday morning worship service, the Sunday School program for at the Retreat UMC follows a One-Room School model bringing together children of all ages. Lessons are pulled from the Bible and often reflect the scripture and sermon from the service. This way the children and adults can talk about what they learned at home as a family. Class is in session from 9 a.m. to roughly 9:45 a.m. which allows the children to also participate in the worship service. All children, even visitors, are welcome to come and take part in the Sunday School. For more information on this Sunday School program, please contact us at retreat-umc@driftlessministry.org.
Sunday School for school age children through 7th grade is held on Sunday mornings. Children come to worship with their families, and then leave for Sunday school after the Children’s Time.
Confirmation Classes are held for 8th grade students.
High school students meet together on a flexible schedule. They are involved with the life of the church by serving on committees and participating in worship services.
Westby UMC offers a youth Sunday school program which usually goes from the middle of September to the middle of May and starts at 10:00 AM on Sunday mornings, after our worship service. This program is for children ages 3 and up. Currently, our youth Sunday school program is like a one-room school house, and our Sunday school teacher does a variety of projects with the youth. We focus on fun activities to learn about God’s love for us and what following Him means through:
- Bible Points, Object Lessons, Scripture
- Serving Others - Outreach to Nursing Homes, Community and Operation Christmas Child
- Games and Crafts
- Music, Children's Worship, Prayer
Our Sunday School program is scheduled to begin again on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021. Due to COVID, children are required to wear masks in the church building. There will be snacks and a time to visit at the beginning of each Sunday school time, followed by the lesson and other activities. We look forward to seeing everyone face to face this year.
