The New Hope Food Pantry Welcomes You!
New Hope Food Pantry - serving the people of the Southwestern Vernon and Northwestern Crawford Counties
We realize that it's hard to ask for help... and it's hard to watch a family go hungry. If you or your family are facing hard times and you are in need of food assistance, the New Hope Food Pantry can lend a hand. Anyone in need of food can come to the New Hope Food Pantry, located in the basement of the New Hope United Methodist Church, between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Thursdays. On this page you can find the application to obtain food assistance from our food pantry as well as links to many other wonderful resources to help you in your time of need.
If you are in a position to help, we absolutely welcome your assistance! Your donations of food, money, or time will help benefit families throughout the area. Scroll down below for ways to help this very important ministry in our region!

COVID-19 Response & Procedure
To help limit the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus throughout our communities, the New Hope Food Pantry has changed the procedure for acquiring assistance from the food pantry. We will now only offer curbside assistance at the pantry during the duration of this outbreak. For the safety and health of all, no public will be allowed to enter the building.
When you come to seek food assistance, we ask that you follow this procedure:
* Drive to the back of the New Hope UMC and park at the back door/food pantry door.
* Get out of your vehicle and knock on the door.
* Get back in your vehicle. One of our volunteers will come out and help fulfill your food assistance needs. You will be served in the order of arrival, so please be patient.
* If you are ill, please stay home and call the food pantry [(608) 648-2644] and we will deliver your food assistance to your home.
* We also ask that you please refrain from bringing in used grocery bags for the time being. The food pantry will provide packaging during this time.
We appreciate your patience and assistance in keeping our community safe and healthy during this time. Thank you for your help and understanding.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I am eligible for assistance?
If you are a resident of southwestern Vernon or northwestern Crawford Counites and meet income eligibility guidelines or you need food assistance, you are probably eligible to receive food. For more information on eligibility, please contact Tim & Mary Green at (608) 648-3636 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How often may I come to the food pantry?
You may come to the food pantry monthly. However, we will never turn anyone away if they need items again during the month.
May I receive food and volunteer at the pantry?
Of course! We welcome you to work along side us helping others in our area! Together, we can make a difference!
What kinds of food will I receive?
We provide common food staples: canned vegetables, fruit, soup, rice, beans, pasta, etc. as well as fresh produce during the summer months. We also provide frozen beef, pork, chicken, eggs, fresh potatoes and onions. In addition to food, we also have paper products and other household items on hand. We really do have a pretty wide variety.
May I send someone else to pick up my food?
Absolutely! If you are having someone else pick up your items for you, please get permission in advance from the food pantry. This ensures us that you are actually going to receive the items that are being taken. If you are unable to make it to the food pantry, we also deliver, if needed, to homes in the De Soto area on the fourth Thursday of the month.
